Welcome to the Maryland Metro Knitters Guild Information Site. Please feel free to contact me (Genia at knitgenia@aol.com) if you know of anything that needs to be on this site.

Meeting Time and Place
Our meetings are the first Wednesday of each month. We have our meeting room starting at 7:00 in the evening with the actual meeting and program to start at 7:30. So come early and chat with us.

We meet at The First United Methodist Church, Hyattsville, Maryland -- 6201 Belcrest Road 301-927-6133

Directions:
Instructions to the First United Methodist Church:
Driving Directions to Maryland Metro Knitters Guild

From points West
· On 495 East, take Exit 28 South New Hampshire Ave. At the second light turn left onto Adelphi Road.
· Continue on Adelphi, and cross University Blvd. At the second light past University take a right onto Belcrest Road.
· Go past Prince Georges Plaza and cross East West Highway.
· At the next light, make a U turn.
· Turn right at the second driveway (Its not well marked and soon after the first driveway) into the church parking lot.
· Park in the lot on the side of the church and use the lower level entrance.


From points North
· Take 95S to the 495 West. Take Exit 28 South New Hampshire Ave. At the second light turn left onto Adelphi Road.
· Continue on Adelphi, cross University Blvd and East West Highway (Rte 410).
· At East West Highway get into the far right lane.
· At the next light at the top of the hill turn right. The Church is on the corner on the right.
· Turn right at the second driveway (Its not well marked and soon after the first driveway) into the church parking lot.
· Park in the lot on the side of the church and use the lower level entrance.


From points East
· Get onto 95 North toward Baltimore/College Park. Take exit 25 South Baltimore Ave.
· Continue on Baltimore Ave past the University of Maryland and through College Park.
· At East West Highway (410) turn right.
· At the first light, which is the intersection with Adelphi and Queens Chapel Roads, turn left and get into the far right lane.
· At the first light, turn right. The Church is on the corner on the right.
· Turn right at the second driveway (Its not well marked and soon after the first driveway) into the church parking lot.
· Park in the lot on the side of the church and use the lower level entrance.

Meeting Programs

January 7th: Stitch-N-Bitch -- Bring your projects to share.

February 4th: Socks given by Laurie Katz This program involves homework. Laurie will be teaching from Joan Hamer's Sock pattern which can be found here or here.

March 3rd: Knitting with Wire Remember those wonderful wire bracelets at the Christmas Exchange? Jeanne will be showing us the technic to knitting with wire. A list of needed supplies will be forthcoming.

April 7th: Lace Book Marks by Alana. Alana is fabulous lace knitter and will be sharing her technic with us in a book mark. List of materials will be forthcoming.

May 5th: Trunk Show Handwoven by Ira -- Ira will be bringing in a trunk show to share with us what yarns he's carrying in his shop located in Washington DC. THis is the first shop in Washington DC to carry yarns suitable for knitting in a while. His address is 6925 Willow Street, Studio 102A, Washington, DC 20012.

Also this will be our MDS&W Festival Show and Share. So bring what you bought, learned to the meeting to share with the rest of us.

June 2nd: Wire Beaded Serving Utensils given by Sharon Piper. List of materials will be forthcoming.

July 7th: Project Exchange: bring in copies of your favorite quickie project for holiday gift giving.

August 4th: OPEN

September 1st: Intarsia and Knitting Back Backwards by Laurie Katz.

October 6th: Fimo Buttons and Beads by Marilyn Riffkin. Always fun to play with clay, how about designing buttons to coordinate with your handknits.

November 3rd: OPEN

December 1st: Holiday Exchange and Elections.
